What was your best experience during the project?
To make a Euregional project work, it is essential to have the right people in a team. A team that knows what the goals are and that understands how to reach them.
One of the best experiences for me during the project is the good teamwork. And the fun we had while doing our job…
Another good experience is the collaboration in the region between other stakeholders, not directly involved in the project. It is of utmost importance that your network, your stakeholders and clients can mobilize each other.
What is the success you are the most proud of?
Successes hardly ever go without failure first. I’m therefore most proud of the launch of Vividlinks.eu. We were working on the site for a long time behind the scenes and it took much time and effort to realize what we have standing today. That it turned out to be a success, with many visitors and jobs is something to be proud of. It warms my heart to see that all those efforts were worthwhile. Especially now Vividlinks.eu is being transferred to ElsevierJobs, ready to grow even more.

My best experience was when the team was able to announce that somebody, a recently graduated person, had been able to sign an employment contract after having been selected through our recently launched career portal Vividlinks.eu. We all then had the very good feeling that something great was happening and that we were on the right track, doing a good job.
The success I am the most proud of, as coordinator, is that we were able, all together, to meet our Skills3 project objectives, i.e. having significant number of people attending each time the Master Classes and the HR seminars as well as successfully using the career portal Vividlinks.eu of which the continuity and expansion is now guarantied via ElsevierJobs.

The most exciting experience was the video shoot for Interreg. The fact that they came up to us because they have heard about Skills3, shows the project's great visibility and its success.

I’m really proud to be a member of the Skills3 team because we have proven that cross border thinking really works! For me as a Dutch person I found no problem to adapt with my Belgium and German colleagues even though possible cultural differences! I’m sure that people who try it too, will think the same way! So for me this means that the whole Skills3 project was, is and with Vividlinks.eu taken over by ElsevierJobs will stay a success!

My best experience was to get in contact with so many special and gifted young people at the beginning of their career. At the same time it was a challenge and a privilege to me to facilitate them as well as entrepreneurs to find the best fitting job for an ideal candidate. I’m very proud to know by personal testimonials that we succeeded in this mission.

The moment I was most proud of was when meeting in Amsterdam an Italian Post doc who had been applying for jobs in Diepenbeek (Belgian Limburg). And all that because of Vividlinks.eu. (@BCF event 2011, Amsterdam)
Imagine the setting of 20 students trying to turn a sail they are standing on upside down and then the link with talent. Yes, giving a workshop can be fun. (@LSCE 2011, Maastricht).

One of my best memories is the first meeting I had with the team. 10 people around a table speaking 4 languages, that was amazing. And somehow it worked perfectly. I was impressed how the regional specificities were understood and taken into account. Each partner had its structure and way of working integrated into the project. For me this is also the great success of Skills3: bringing 5 partners, 4 regions, 3 countries together towards one goal.

Skills3 success story
Successful Skills³ project is coming to an end
After 3,5 years of commitment to strenghten the Euregional Labour market in the Life Sciences sector, the Interreg IVA Skills³ project comes to an end.
Five partners from four regions joined forces to set up three workpackages: HR Seminars for professionals, Master Classes for highly motivated students and the Life Sciences career portal Vividlinks.eu.
In this newsletter we would like to share the succes story from the start in 2008 until the official ending on the 31st of December 2011.
Within the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (EMR) there was the belief that the Life Sciences had a lot to offer for students, professionals and companies. No need for people to move to other parts of one of the three countries to find a nice and interesting job, but a lot of people weren’t aware of these opportunities. Time to make a change.
Funded by the European Union, the Province of Limburg (NL), the Province of Limburg (BE), the Region North Rhine-Westphalia (DE) and the Walloon Region (BE) the Skills³ project was ‘born’. From the four regions five project partners were assigned to do the job: Interface Entreprises-Université from Liege, LifeTechLimburg from Hasselt, LifetecZONe from Dutch Limburg, LifeTec Aachen-Jülich e.V. and AGIT mbH from Aachen.
They had one common goal and started working together in 2008, strengthened with the believe that the Euregio Meuse-Rhine has all the potential to become a major Life Sciences epicenter, located in the heart of Europe. Now at the end of 2011 our three tools are well known within the Life Sciences community of the EMR. With proud we can say that our HR Seminars and Master Classes were successful. Each time held at a different location in one of the three countries and well appreciated among students, professionals and companies. Together through our most important tool Vividlinks.eu we created transparency within the Life Sciences landscape and showed the potential of this cross-border region. Vividlinks.eu now shows 250 company profiles on the map and more than one thousand professionals created a personal profile.
The end of the public financing of Skills³ means the end of the HR Seminars and Master Classes BUT not the end of Vividlinks.eu. The Skills³ team is proud to announce that from January 2012 onwards Vividlinks.eu will be managed by ElsevierJobs, a service of Elsevier, the world’s leading provider of science and health information. The Skills³ partners wish them all the best and is convinced that they will perpetuate the success story!
