University Hospital seeks volunteers for case study.

Aachen. Professor Axel Heidenreich, Direktor der Urologischen Klinik des Uniklinikums Aachen, sucht für seine Studie eine Reihe von Patienten, die an Prostatakrebs erkrankt sind und bestimmte Bedinungen erfüllen. Getestet wird die Wirksamkeit und Sicherheit eines neuen Medikamentes zur Behandlung von "fortgeschrittenem hormon-reistenten Protatakrebs". An der internationalen (Phase III-) Studie nehmen weltweit bis zu 1200 Männer teil. Diese neue Hormontherapie können eine Chance sein für Patienten, "bei denen alle derzeitigen Therapien und Chemotherapien versagen", sagt Heidenreich. Als Probanden infrage kommen Patienten, deren Krebs in einem fortgeschrittenen Stadium ist, die mit dem Zytostatikum Docetaxel, behandelt wurden und bei denen, drittens, der Krebs seit der Chemotherapie weiter gewachsen ist.
