Wed, 08 Dec 2010

The call for scientific abstracts for Knowledge for Growth 2011, taking place on 5 May 2011 in the ICC ghent, is now open.Click here to submit your abstract (Deadline: 22/12/2010).

What is Knowledge for Growth?

Knowledge for Growth is Europe's largest regional biotech convention and is organised by FlandersBio, the umbrella organisation for the life sciences and biotech sector in Flanders.

What abstracts are we looking for?

Abstracts presenting science or technology in the broad area of medical and plant biotechnology or medical technology.

  • We aim for a 50-50 mix of industry and academic presentations.
  • Only abstracts involving recent work of Flemish R&D/production groups or groups collaborating with a Flemish R&D group will be considered.
  • Abstracts should focus on technology or research that is of interest to the biotech community at large and should clearly state the technology or scientific project, focusing on the concept and rationale behind it without in-depth experimental details.

Special attention in the 2011 programme will be given to abstracts scoring high on

  • Innovation
  • Cutting Edge Technology
  • Research Excellence
  • Marketability

16 scientific abstracts (12 red biotech/medtech, 4 plant biotech) will be selected by the Knowledge for Growth scientific committee for an oral presentation and all abstracts within the scope of the conference can be presented as a poster.

This gives you the opportunity to present your work to a large audience (last year we had more than 900 registered participants). Oral presenters get a free entry ticket to the convention; poster presenters get a 50% reduction on the registration fee and can compete for one of the 4 poster awards (value = 500 EUR each). More details will be provided in due course.
