Liege Science Park

Thu, 01 Dec 2011

Sart-up based in the Liege Science Park STX MEd aims at serving the human through electronics. The company is specialised in neurostimulation to fight against pains and paralysis.

Since 2008 STX Med has been working on developing the CEFALY®, first neurostimulation machine for the treatment and prevention of headaches, which efficiency has just been proven by the Premice study.

This study was achieved in 6 neurological Belgian centers and on around 60 individuals. For 40% of the people using CEFALY® their number of crisis were divided by two and thus reduced their medicine consumption. The machine works with neurostimulation: it sends waves to the trigeminal nerve to regulate the anormal brain activities.

A demand for the reimbursing of the CEFALY® has been introduced in Belgium and France and to the Food and Drug Administration in the USA.
