Dear Sir/ Madam
The Maastricht Health Campus provides a unique and challenging environment for cooperation, valorisation and open innovation in Life Sciences and Health.
An important initiative within the campus is “Brains Unlimited”, a project which will create a European Centre of Excellence in ultra high field Magnetic
Resonance Imaging in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
Brains Unlimited translates the fundamental knowledge of the brain into applications and novel therapies by offering world-class research and education
in the field of mental health, neuroscience and neurophysics. It also offers an entrepreneurial environment that includes an incubator where new businesses
can be hosted and supported as they develop novel products for release to the market. Important scientific partners of the Brains Unlimited project include Forschungszentrum Jülich, Maastricht University (Medical Centre+), Maastricht Brain Imaging Center and Siemens Healthcare.
To bring the Neuroscience community in our region together; key scientists, clinicians and entrepreneurs will come together on Thursday October 20th to
discuss the opportunities arising from this initiative. Whilst the intention is for the event to be focused on the topics important to the attendees; it is envisaged
that the discussion will be based upon the different areas where Brains Unlimited can bring benefit to the wider community and which have the potential
for building collaborations between organisations. These will likely include research, valorisation and applications in the fields of (amongst others):
Clinical research – extending to the entire body, and ranging from disease biology to drug development
- Software development
- Medical diagnostics
- Neurofeedback
- Physics – including the development of MRI hardware
as well as the provision of a new Professional Masters course for education in the physics, data processing and applications of MRI.
