Some people already asked me - and probably many others wonder - why they should join Vividlinks.eu, the Life Sciences Career Community, if they are already on LinkedIn, the most famous professional social network in the world (more than 65 million registered users).
One element of response is already in my definition of LinkedIn: if you think worldwide, LinkedIn is probably the best choice. But if you are looking locally in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, either for collaborations or jobs or companies or news and events, well any kind of information related to the Life Sciences sector, then Vividlinks.eu offers fabulous opportunities. Also, another strength of Vividlinks.eu is its specialization in the Life Sciences sector. And if LinkedIn is used a lot by finance, law, communication and business-related profiles, it is still not very popular within the Life Sciences sector, particularly in the community of researchers.
The hybrid aspect of Vividlinks.eu between a career portal and a professional social network makes it my favorite tool to develop my local professional social network in the Life Sciences sector. And some new functionalities coming soon will give it still much more value. Just as a few examples:
- interaction tools for the members of this Community, including this new forum but also blogs,
- a candidate search tool for the employers,
- a job agent making easier the search of vacancies matching your competencies and interests.

To conclude, I would say that both Vividlinks.eu and LinkedIn have their own strengths and weaknesses/limits, depending on what you are looking for...

And it is not forbidden, but rather useful, to have a profile on both Vividlinks.eu and LinkedIn... ;-)
